Obesity is a complex issue with a range of contributing factors including; behaviour, genetics, environment (physical activity, food environment, marketing promotion etc.) and medications. The consequences of obesity include type 2 diabetes, coronary heart disease, stroke and certain cancers. Excess weight is therefore a significant health issue, affecting more than 60% of the adult population. The London Borough of Sutton are seeking to commission a service provider to deliver an accessible Tier 2 Behavioural Adult Weight Management Service in the borough which supports overweight and obese adults to initiate (and complete) behavioural changes to reduce and manage their weight, improve their health status and their quality of life. Tier 2 Behavioural Adult Weight Management Services are multi component programmes that aim to deliver and to support behaviour changes that help reduce a person's energy intake (calorie deficit) and helps them to be more physically active.
