SOJ (664214) Opportunity for a provider to work with Durham for a bespoke residential children's home

Residential home required for 13 year old male with a diagnosis of ASD and ADHD SOJs needs: SOJ needs a placement that has a firm understanding of ASD that underpins their practice. Ideally a placement that is specialised in this area or at least has a team who have experience in this area. This is important in providing SOJ with the support that he needs. By this I mean the way in which others are aware of triggers, of issues that may cause distress and anxiety and ways and means to allow the young person to communicate issues that they are struggling to articulate. SOJ needs consistent support and consistent relationships from those that are supporting him in his life. This helps to reduce anxiety and reduce of the challenging behaviour that manifests from this. SOJ needs support in attending his education as he has begun to withdraw from this in the last few months. A gentle exploration around why this is and how we can remove any anxiety is needed so he can attend on a regular basis. SOJ has 2:1 support with his education that is agreed by the local authority high cost panel. SOJ is a sociable and well liked young person SOJ has good relationships in the home SOJ is generally healthy with no significant health concerns No concerns with drug or alcohol use No concerns relating to him absconding SOJ has an EHCP for support SOJ has contact with his step mum, half brother and former keyworker Keywords: Durham County Council, Residential childrens home, Bespoke, Support, Partnership
