Replacement of Aeronautical Ground Lighting (AGL) at Kirkwall Airport

Tender description

HIAL's airports are operated in accordance with the regulatory standards of statutory bodies including the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), Department for Transport (DfT), Health & Safety Executive (HSE) and Scottish Environmental Protection Agency (SEPA). Kirkwall Airport is planning to replace the majority of its AGL system as it is approaching the end of its operational lifespan. The replacement AGL shall be high efficiency to support HIAL's sustainability objectives and reduce their overall consumption, without the need for significant modifications to the control system other than what may be required to support any new services. HIAL will be seeking to tender for a main contractor for the works. The project at Kirkwall Airport is for supply, installation, and commissioning of the following: 1. Main runway 09/27 AGL. 2. 09 and 27 approaches lighting, masts and foundations. 3. May or may not include illuminated stop bars forming a "ring of red" at all runway entrances/crossings. 4. Primary and secondary cable replacement. 5. Associated trenching, ducting and civils works. 6. Integrating the above into the existing Control System.
