Cavan General Hospital Extension. 2nd Enabling Works. HV Infrastructure Package

Tender description

As part of a separately procured proposed new extension to Cavan General Hospital, essential upgrades to the campus electrical infrastructure are required. This contract is for this electrical infrastructure and associated builder’s works package which includes the construction of High voltage (HV) infrastructure works within the live hospital campus. The project comprises extensive groundworks throughout the campus, the construction and refurbishment of new and existing plant rooms and campus sub-stations and new electrical installation works to install high voltage electrical infrastructure to serve the campus. It is envisaged that a suitably qualified main contractor and experienced electrical sub-contractor will be required to complete the works. The project includes the construction of 3 number substations including 1 new intake plant room, various sub-plant rooms, refurbishment of existing switchboards and associated works to switchgear and the procurement and installation of new transformers. In addition to this the project will include connecting to existing high voltage switch rooms, redirecting, decommissioning, and upgrading existing high voltage cables and the installation of new high voltage cables. As the works need to be carried out in the active hospital campus ancillary items such as traffic management, generator power backup and essential electrical infrastructure contingency measures will form part of the scope of works to be provided by the successful contractor. The project will be executed in one phase which will include HV infrastructure works connecting to substation HV1, HV2 and HV3 and infrastructure works to allow for future connection to substation HV4.
