Call for Tenders for professional archival services cataloguing and digitising aerial photograph negatives produced by the Irish Air Corps between c1940s – 1990s

Lot 1: The purpose of this Call for Tenders is the contracting of a suitably qualified company to provide professional, archival standard cataloguing and digitisation services for aerial photograph negatives produced by the Air Corps between the 1940s – 1990s. This is in order to produce a ‘preservation master’ (Tiff) and an ‘access’ (JPEG) version of each image with a view to the preservation of digital surrogates and the availability of public digital access versions online. Included in this tender is the requirement for new packaging for the negative film as required e.g. archival standard containers for film reels to replace old metal containers (approx. 198 in total). The successful solution must take into account the historical value of the material in question and ensure the physical security and material integrity of the material at all stages, from collection and transportation, though handling and scanning, to accounting for its return to the Military Archives.
