Tender description

The National Physical Laboratory (NPL) is the UK's National Measurement Institute and is a world-leading centre of excellence in developing and applying the most accurate measurement standards, science, and technology available. The Gas metrology department at National Physical Laboratory [NPL] requirement is for an automated evacuation rig. Following Several near misses in our department, HSES and our department head require us to significantly improve safety of our high-risk processes of which cylinder evacuation is the main one. With our current evacuation rig, we have experienced downtimes of a minimum of 6 weeks overall only in the last year (2022) due to safety reasons (near misses, incidents) and downtimes on unplanned maintenance. By purchasing the asset (automated evacuation rig), we will be reducing the likelihood of near misses and catastrophic incidents, human error which is the main contributor to our risks.
