Tender description

Munster Technological University is seeking tenders from competent service providers for the provision of X-ray computed tomography (CT) scanning of sheep in Ireland to capture body composition data of carcass-related traits. As part of the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine funded “GreenBreed” project, a team consisting of researchers from both MTU and Teagasc will assess the relationship between methane measurements and x-ray computed tomography (CT) scanning on a large number of deeply phenotyped sheep of both Irish lowland and hill breeds. This tender relates to the CT scanning portion of the project, by which scanning of the rumen, hind leg, loin, and chest regions of approx. 1,000 live animals is required.
