Tender description
Introduction There have been issues with the suitability of resources to support the teaching of essential skills in ‘communication’ and ‘application of number’ to social care, early years and childcare workers. The sector have raised concerns that the current re-sources do not reflect the day to day work of such workers. As a result, learners struggle with the learning and completion of the essential skills qualifications. We are told that this is resulting in people fearing apprenticeship qualifications, leaving learning programmes early and in some cases, leaving the sector altogether. The Programme for Government commits to increasing apprenticeships for the sector. Therefore, it is timely to review and create a set of new national bilingual social care and early years childcare specific resources* to support the delivery and completion of essential skills qualifications. What is required / ‘The Requirements’ We are seeking a provider to work closely with us to: 1) Research and engage with learning providers to establish existing and relevant essential skills resources that are being used to support the delivery of Communication and Application of Number within the sector. 2) Based on findings produce a report outlining recommendations for the development of a set of national bilingual, sector specific resources and materials to be used by learners, learning providers and employers to support the achievement of essential skills qualifications. 3) Develop a set of national bilingual, sector specific resources and materials that support the learning and delivery of essential skills, and which have been endorsed by the relevant Awarding Organisations. Method Stage One – The supplier will complete desktop research and engagement to scope and identify all existing and relevant sector specific resources in order to make recommendations. Stage Two – The supplier will develop and test new national bilingual resources and materials through engagement with awarding bodies, learning providers, learners, employers and advisory groups.
