Cornwall Council was awarded £23.5m of UK Government funding to deliver a 4-year reduced bus fares pilot which commenced in April 2022. • The Council is the only authority in the country to introduce the scheme, which aims to understand the impact of lower fares on patronage. • Huge steps forward have been taken on firstly simplifying fares, making them interoperable and making them much better value. • Headline fares: Cornwall-wide Day Ticket - £5 (this was £15 pre-Jan 2022 and £9 post-Jan 2022) and Cornwall Weekly Ticket - £20. Town Zone tickets are available in 13 towns for £2.50 per day and single and return fares have also reduced with singles now starting at £1.60 / returns from £2.40. • Tap & Cap for Day & Weekly tickets was introduced in July 2022. • The BFP has delivered the largest ever local multimedia marketing campaigns for public transport – Make Big Savings by Bus (launch), Believe in Bus (Christmas), Hey You, It’s Time to Bus / Love the Bus (Current) – these are giving us great engagement opportunities making buses relevant, creating a real buzz with influencers and social media.
