Bridgend County Borough Council (BCBC) announces this contract Award Notice for the Navigation Hotel Culvert Repair Work. This was a Further Competition of the new County Council of the City and County of Cardiff, South East and Mid Wales Highways Framework Agreement Dated January 2023, Lot 6 refers. Brief description of works or services: The Navigation Hotel Culvert is located in Caerau near Maesteg and carries the River Llynfi beneath public areas including Hermon Road, the war memorial and the landscaped area to the rear Dyffryn Road/ Hermon Road. The culvert has an overall length of some 118m. The remedial works will include:- • Relining the corrugated steel culvert section over a length of some 90m with a proprietary Geosynthetic Cementitious Composite Mat. • Removal of shoaling/ debris from within the culvert • Carrying out scour repairs within the culvert • Carrying out concrete repairs within the culvert • Partially taking down and rebuilding a potentially unstable masonry wing wall at the culvert outlet • Carrying out scour repairs to the concrete apron at the culvert outlet • Lining the river bed downstream of the culvert outlet to mitigate future scour The works are described in detail in The Scope (Appendix 2 to the Agreement).
