Tender description

South Cambridgeshire District Council (SCDC) is undertaking a procurement to develop a series of programmes, known as Exercise4Fun to be hosted in leisure settings across South Cambridgeshire. This programme aims to support those who are inactive and/or have a BMI over 25. Referrals would be accepted via health professionals or self-referral. Owing to the requirements of this programme, SCDC will be looking for leisure providers to deliver this service at various key locations across our District. The Exercise4Fun programme will take a cohort (max 12 participants) through a 12-week active lifestyle programme, to help people become active and move more. It will include a range of activities preferably delivered in the evenings, to help improve fitness, socialise, learn new skills, and ultimately improve overall wellbeing. The session programme will consist of group activities including fitness classes, walking sports, team games, healthy eating, and wellbeing walks. Activities to be chosen by participants in consultation with the leisure centre organiser at the start of the 12-week programme. Once signed up for the Exercise4Fun programme, and following attendance of their first session, each participant will also receive a free 90-day pass to use at the leisure centre. This membership will include access to activities such as the gym, fitness classes, swimming, badminton, and other targeted activities delivered by your Centre. Each participant achieving attendance of at least 75% of the weekly group sessions, will receive a further 90-day free pass. These passes will be funded by SCDC. We are looking for leisure centres to deliver 3 x 12-week Exercise4Fun activity programmes, for adults 18+ throughout 2023-24. 12 participants per programme. We are also looking for a leisure centre to deliver 1 x 12-week programme for families with children aged 11-16 years who are concerned with their weight, starting in Autumn 2023. We are also looking for a leisure centre to deliver 1 x 12-week programme for adults with disabilities concerned with their weight or inactivity, starting in Autumn 2023. The delivery of this programme will comprise of a variety of elements each week, designed in collaboration with the participants (at week 1) but must include one session on healthy eating, and one on behavioural change, plus different physical activities each week. SCDC would value a programme that is participant driven and encourages teamwork. The goal is to see a positive impact on participants’ activity levels and reduced BMI through fitness tracking.
