Scotland’s Net Zero and Climate Adaptation Economy – A SWOT analysis.

ClimateXChange wishes to commission research to provide a SWOT (strengths-weaknesses-opportunities-threats) analysis of Scotland’s existing and emerging net zero and adaptation economy. To maximise opportunities for economic growth, employment, investment, trade and well-being, the Scottish Government needs to better understand where the biggest net zero and climate adaptation opportunities lie and how it can support them to grow. Recent ClimateXChange research (Measuring Scotland’s Net Zero and Climate Adaptation Economy) developed a methodology to enable the Scottish Government to analyse selected individual sectors within the Scottish net zero and climate adaptation economy. This report, however, found that foundational data sources available are limited at a Scotland level and that more research and / or access to privately-held data sets are required. In response to this gap in knowledge, the Scottish Government would like to develop a Scotland Economy-wide Strengths-Weaknesses-Opportunities-Threats (SWOT) analysis of the Scottish economy as it relates to net zero and climate adaptation.
