Tender description

In partnership with the Kent and Medway ICB, Kent County Council’s Public Health Team are looking for a provider to develop a comprehensive, co-created infant feeding strategy with actions to improve breastfeeding outcomes in Kent. This will build on the infant feeding strategy workshop held in January 2020. We would expect the successful provider to advise on the most appropriate methodologies to be utilised which will ensure broad representation from the communities in Kent. This may include, but not be limited to: • engaging with local mums (women who chose to breast feed; women who chose to formula feed; women who were not provided with the support they needed or wanted to breast feed, or to breast feed for as long as they wanted to; women who had an infant with tongue tie). • engaging with local infant feeding stakeholders (health visitors, midwives, lactation consultants, infant feeding specialist in maternity, specialist infant feeding service, infant feeding peer supporters • engaging with infant feeding service commissioners, managers, system leaders We would expect the successful provider to provide KCC with a comprehensive detailed infant feeding five-year strategy that provides clear system wide solutions and actions on the most effective ways to improve outcomes on breast feeding. Engagement with stakeholders will be agreed with KCC before contract commences. The infant feeding strategy will support the continued accreditation for UNICEF BFI status in Kent.
