Tender description

Tunbridge Wells Borough Council is requesting quotations for vintage / Victorian rides for example a Ferris wheel and a children’s ride of some description. We would like family orientated attractions that will enhance the ice rink event and help it to have that winter wonderland feel. This year’s event will run from December 1st, 2023 – January 1st, 2024. This contract is subject to the Council successfully obtaining planning permission. If future events go ahead the ice rink will open and close at a similar time period. The Ice Rink has been running in Calverley Grounds for 12 years. Last season (2022-23) it attracted 43,004 skaters, with increased footfall to the area from visitors watching the skaters or who just come along to take in the festive atmosphere. Anecdotally we had in excess of 80,000 visitors in the period. In the 2021/22 season we attracted in excess of 50,000 skaters. Tunbridge Wells Borough has around 115,000 residents, mostly in the four main towns of Royal Tunbridge Wells, Cranbrook, Paddock Wood and Southborough, plus a host of attractive Wealden villages in the local Kent countryside.
