DurhamWorks (DurhamWorks3/F) – Independent Travel Training

Tender description

This opportunity is to tender for a contract to deliver an Independent Travel Training programme to 40 identified Children/Young People. Travel training schemes have been introduced by a number of Local Authorities nationally which have proven beneficial in enabling independent travelling of service users. Outcomes from national programmes are wide ranging and cross cut many key policy areas, including: • Accessibility; • Transport & Road Safety; • Education; • Health; • Employment; and • Social Services. National best practice guidance suggests that Travel Training has been beneficial for people who are less able or less inclined to travel independently. DurhamWorks has identified a need for this training to support existing DurhamWorks 3/F participants who are currently heavily reliant on taxis to access our services and to support new participants where independent travel is identified as a barrier.
