Award of Supervision of Work on Stern Tube on MRV Scotia (MS-P-0224)

Tender description

The Scottish Ministers acting through Marine Scotland invites tenders for a contract to oversee and supervise work scope required to the Stern tube and its seals when the Tail shaft is removed and refitted during the upcoming refit at a yet to be decided dock in North east UK or Northern Ireland. The propeller flange protection plate on the MRV Scotia is fixed to the propellor flange with a 6mm gap. There is a nylon ring between the plate and the flange and when removed the gap remains due to insufficient clearance between the shaft radius and the flange protection plate. This gap is not consistent with the manufacturers drawings and it has been decided to rectify this non-conformity. During a scheduled dry docking in March 2023, Marine Scotland will draw out the tail shaft so that this departure from the original drawing design can be rectified.
