Peatland restoration; Bile Bhuidhe, RSPB Abernethy April 2023

Tender description

Tender for the supply of 149ha of peatland restoration at Bile Bhuidhe, Abernethy national nature reserve, August - December 2023 RSPB Abernethy require an experienced contractor to undertaken peatland restoration work. The project is due to commence at the start of the August 2023. The duration of the project will be approx. 18 weeks. It is anticipated that work will be complete on site by the end of November 2023. This builds in some contingency for some work to continue into December if weather conditions allow. The project comprises a mixture of machine work and hand work techniques commonly used in peatland restoration projects. Site conditions at Abernethy should be considered. Much of the site is above 700mAOD, the site lies around 10km from the nearest public road and must be accessed by 4x4 vehicle track and ATV. The successful bidder must be prepared for the conditions and have rigorous health and safety procedures in place.
