Spearhead Sonar 2087 Design Authority Capability Insertion Project (S2087 DA-CIP)

Tender description

The RN requires an active/passive towed array for deployment from specialist ASW ships to deliver operational advantage. This capability is required to provide a persistent capability to Deter/Deny/Find/Fix against a broad range of existing and emerging target sets that include but are not limited to SSGN, SSN, SSK, SSC and Remote/Autonomous/un-crewed vessels. S2087 is required to demonstrate the mechanical resilience necessary to support prolonged operations in challenging environmental conditions in both contemporary and future operating environments. It will be optimised for operations in the complex water column of the North Atlantic whilst still being able to deliver operational advantage over UW threats globally. The capability insertion pr will support and facilitate rapid incorporation of new technologies and capability enabled by an open architecture. Operational advantage will be achieved and maintained through technical agility that adheres to UK legislation on environmental impact, whilst demonstrating interoperability with other UK and allied systems with particular focus on multi-static, UW sensor fusion and UW data transfer. Following Contract Placement in September 2022 the Authority has now undertaken the Option Years to March 2025.
