Tender description
WORKS DESCRIPTION The Council proposes to appoint an external Specialist Contractor to provide weed control services (Chemical treatment) to roads and footpaths within the Ennis Town / Clarecastle area for the 2023 season. All areas to be treated twice (mid-April and mid-July). The areas in question are generally roads and paved areas being maintained and managed by this Council. Roads not yet “Taken in Charge” are excluded from this contract. All areas to be treated are to remain open for use by the public during the treatment process. The extent of each road to be treated will generally be as follows. On each side of the road at the base of the kerb. On each side of the road at the back or top of the kerb. On each side of the road at the back of the public footpath. On each side of the public footpath if the path is separated from the road by a grass verge. Around the base of every pole, bollard, bin, or any element of street furniture. All footways, traffic islands and central reservations encountered along the routes are to be treated. In some areas back access lanes are included in such areas (Gravel Surfaces) weeds on the entire gravel area will require spraying. Transverse and longitudinal joints in paving are to be treated. The extents of the areas to be treated are outlined on the attached maps. The total length of public road (centre line length) to be treated is 152 kilometers. The following is the minimum treatment regime to be employed. Mid April: Spot Spray all locations with a total nonselective, glyphosate-based herbicide, Products must be approved for amenity use by the Pesticide Control Service (P.C.S) of the Department of Agriculture & Fisheries and Food.
