Supply of Dry Ice

SNBTS requires supplies of Dry Ice for the transport of blood products and frozen tissue products such as bone, tendons and heart valves and for distribution of a medicinal products. The use of dry ice during transportation is to ensure that the storage temperature required during transportation can be maintained. This is a voluntary ex ante transparency (VEAT) notice. Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service requires the supply of Dry Ice, without which they are unable to transport life saving blood components, tissues, cells and medicinal products. There are currently no other means available to SNBTS of transporting these items without the use of Dry Ice. A full open procurement process was conducted to identify the most economically advantageous tender, no compliant bids were received. To ensure supply of this critical product, SNBTS are entering into an agreement with the current supplier for continued deliveries of Dry Ice.
