BT1627 - Effective Engagement with Private Sector

<p>Luton Borough Council has one of the largest private rented sector markets. This is a real positive for the Town but can also be a negative. The Housing Service struggles with enforcement of the sector due to poor landlords and capacity but recognises that more effective communication with the owners of rented accommodation could be a real bonus for the step forward needed in this area. We are looking for a consultant to carry out some short term work to look at the issues, the barriers and challenges we face and to come up with a set of actions and deliver them. This is a crucial area of work. Specifically, we are looking for the below mentioned outcomes: - - An increase in the number of privately rented properties made available to the Council to assist our homeless households; - Increase in the number of landlords who attend the Landlords’ Forum; - Grow the private rental landlord database - Develop a six month plan to deliver the above and to enable more effective communication across the work that the Council carries out with private landlords</p> Keywords: consultant, review, housing, accommodation
