Summary of the work The specialist will need to be a highly experienced (Practitioner level) Senior Dev Ops Engineer. Managing day to day support, technical leadership and guidance, creating a DevOps culture and implementing automation best practices. Upholding DWP values and working within Government Digital Standards. Specialist role Developer Expected Contract Length 24 months with an optional extension period of up to 6 months Latest start date Monday 13 February 2023 Maximum Day Rate Up to £750 ex VAT per day. Standard 8 hour working day, includes expenses to base location agreed with DWP . This role is Inside IR35 Who Speclialist Work With DWP Technology Services. Service Transformation Release and Test Team What Specialists Work On 1. Develop test and implement Infrastructure as Code scripts for the ‘Zephyr test automation' service in Azure using the likes of Terraform, Powershell/Bash and CloudFormation 2. Create, implement and Support CI/CD pipeline using Gitlab and Atlassian products incl Zephyr, Jira 3. Support all the above once implemented 4. Support the Strategy work to agree approach for migration of Test Environment Service from on-premise to Cloud 5. Build/migrate test environment service in the Cloud Skills & Experience • • 3+ Year in a hands-on platform engineer/devops/cloud support role • Evidence of, significant practical experience and detailed technical knowledge of Redhat based Linux distributions • Evidence of, significant practical experience and detailed technical knowledge of Ansible Automation Platform and automating manual/human processes • Evidence of, significant practical experience and detailed technical knowledge of Terraform • Evidence of, significant experience and technical knowledge of managing infrastructure as code, catering for multiple environment differences (Cloud and On-Premise Hosting) using either PowerShell or Bash • Evidence of practical experience and detailed technical knowledge of Gitlab • Technical Skills: Service Focus (DDaT) Technical Breadth (DDaT) Programming & build (DDaT) (level 3) Nice to Haves • Demonstrate experience of working in regulated public sector environments (DWP, HMRC) • Able to demonstrate mentoring other colleagues with technical matters • Demonstrate experience of identification of manual processes, suitable for automation • Use of Google Go language, Kubernetes and Docker. • Evidence of practical experience of Jenkins Work Location DWP Digital Corporate Hubs : Peel Park Blackpool or 2 St Peter's Square Manchester Working Arrangments Specialist will work 5 working days per week. The specialist will be expected to attend site 40% of their working time in line with DWP's Hybrid working policy working remotely for the remainder of their time. Days of attendance on site will be as determined by DWP management. The specialist will be required to be online between the hours of 8:00AM - 17:00PM Monday to Friday Security Clearance Must have current Security Check level clearance sponsored by a UK Government Department and On-Shore.
