RBGE wishes to appoint a Specialist Museum and Exhibition Gallery Architect to partner with us as we establish design solutions to sensitively refurbish and upgrade our key Creative Programmes venue, Inverleith House, at our garden in Edinburgh. The house was refurbished in 1990 and again in 2004, with support from the National Lottery achieved much-needed upgrades and some access improvements. The house has since suffered while trying to accommodate the programmes’ ambition, differed maintenance, flooding, and outdated systems and infrastructure not fit for exhibitions with loans that require government indemnity. The work will consist of supporting all RIBA stages over a multi-year contract to begin with an initial consultation and concept phases to inform future budget planning and to be programmed into the future down time that the venue rarely achieves. The contract duration will be 36 Months in total from commencement. RBGE is looking for Specialist Architects who have experience design interiors of art gallery spaces in a refurbished domestic building or repurposed building that demonstrates a sensitivity to detail that merges modern functionality with appropriate restraint for the building’s heritage.
