Tender For The Supply Of Hydrological, Crosstracking And Reprofiling Works At Forsinard Flows Reserve Unblocked collector drains will be dammed using the excavator bucket to create full size dams (Where peat depth is more than 150cm) or pull in dams (Where peat depth is 150cm or below) that completely block the drains, at 25cm level drops between each with the aim of raising the water table above the dam back to within 10cm of the original ground surface level. Dams should be built at intervals between 6m and 20m. For full height dams brash material should be cleared away from the dam site, and a key cut out on the sides and base to ensure a good water tight seal. Suitable un-oxidised peaty material to construct the dam should be obtained from the near vicinity, without compromising the viability of other dams nearby, and where peat can be borrowed without too much disruption of the crushed brash (which should again be left lying below the original surface).
