Glenmore non-native control

Tender description

Removal of all non–native tree species on the open hill (outlined in red on the attached map) using hand tools (e.g. bowsaw, pruning saw, loppers) – no chainsaw use will be allowed as part of this contract. All non-native trees (predominantly Sitka Spruce and Norway Spruce with some lodgepole pine, larch and western hemlock) are to be cut at ground level (below lowest whorl of branches) to prevent any regrowth. In many cases this will require heather or ground vegetation to be moved to allow access (easier to do when using pruning saws). Where small enough, trees should be hand pulled to remove roots as well. No native trees to be felled or damaged (e.g. Scots Pine, Birch, Rowan, Willows, Aspen, Juniper). Access to the site is primarily on foot (or bicycle) by the pedestrian path network throughout Glenmore. Vehicle access to get closer to the site is possible by arrangement with Forestry and Land Scotland on some of the forest roads within Glenmore. ATV’s are not to be used as part of this contract.
