Requirement for Temporary Emergency Generation - 450MW

Tender description

The CRU, with the consent of the Minister for the Environment, Climate and Communications, has directed EirGrid under Regulation 28(10) of the Regulations, in our capacity as the transmission system operator, to secure the delivery of c. 450MW of emergency temporary generation. As part of that direction, EirGrid, through a wholly owned special purpose vehicle was to procure from the market electricity generation plant. Given the extreme urgency of this process, EirGrid utilised the negotiated procedure without prior call for competition procedure, pursuant to Article 49 of the Regulations (SI No. 286 of 2016) and in so doing, identified GE as the preferred OEM. EirGrid negotiated and concluded the Contracts and obtained relevant approvals for the SPV to contract with GE. In the meantime, EirGrid PLC under these separate agreements wishes to engage the seller to conduct the Design Preparation works under the agreement in order to preserve critical path lead times and then assign and novate EirGrids rights and obligations under the agreement to the site owner.
