Pelagic Trawl net package

Tender description

The Marine Institute, a semi State body, wishes to invite tenders for the supply of a multi-lot Pelagic Trawl net package consisting of 3 new single pelagic midwater trawls, brailers, small mesh net liner bags, bridles and associated chandlery and the modification of an existing trawl by adding a new small mesh body section and small mesh brailer. At present a requirement exists for a multi-lot Pelagic Net Trawl Package: to provide pelagic trawl nets and associated equipment for each of the three acoustic survey programs carried out by Fisheries Ecosystems Advisory Services-(FEAS) annually. Biological sampling is carried out using single vessel midwater trawls. The lots described within this tender are for a replacement pelagic mid-water trawl, brailer and small mesh inner net liner bag for each survey based on existing trawl designs, as detailed below. This tender also includes a lot for the modification of an existing trawl to include the construction and fitting of a new small mesh body section, small mesh brailer and ‘pocket nets’ for target sampling of mesopelagic fish. All nets supplied are to be fully rigged and ‘ready to fish’ single pelagic mid-water trawls, to include a brailer, inner 20mm (full mesh) net liner, bridles and associated chandlery.
