The SENDIASS (Special Educational Needs and Disability Information Advice and Support Service) is a statutory duty under the Children & Families Act 2014. This is outlined in the SEND Code of Practice, the statutory guidance that accompanies the SEND Reforms introduced as part of the Act. Local authorities need to ensure that children, young people and parents receive impartial information, advice and support on matters relating to their Special Educational Needs or disabilities, health and social care.
