Tender description

Leicester City Council in association with Leicestershire County Council ("the Statutory Authorities") undertook a procurement process to find a suitably qualified and experienced provider for the Healthwatch Service to operate in Leicester and Leicestershire. Leicester City Council (acting on behalf of itself and Leicestershire County Council) led this procurement. Lot 1: The Health and Social Care Act (March 2012) required local authorities to establish local Healthwatch services in their localities. The Councils are required to purchase a local Healthwatch service from a social enterprise or body corporate. The statutory functions of Healthwatch include:- a. promoting and supporting the involvement of local people in the provision of local health and social care services. b. scrutinising local health and social care services. c. obtaining the views and experiences of people accessing local health and social care services. d. making recommendations about how local health and social care services could be improved. e. signposting people to information about local health and care services. The proposed Contract shall be held by Leicester City Council and will be for an initial period of 3 years to commence on 1st April 2023, with an option to extend, subject to satisfactory performance outcomes for a further 2 years to 31st March 2028, taking the contract term to a maximum of 5 years.
