Tender description
The WHSCT are seeking to appoint a design team for the proposed upgrade / replacement of M&E services infrastructure in a single ward within the Tower Block at Altnagelvin hospital. Mechanical Services - The project aims to reduce the risk associated with water borne pathogens within the building services. The work will primarily involve the installation of replacement mains, hot and cold water services to the existing water assets within the ward. It will be necessary to remove all redundant pipework in line with legislative guidance. Electrical Services – The works will include a complete rewire of the electrical installation on the ward, this will include the provision of two diverse supplies at ward level, all lighting, power, fire detection and fire protection equipment. It will also include equipment supplied from ward level to wards above and below. These works will reduce the risk of electrical failure and bring the ward electrical installation up to date with IEE wiring regulations 17th edition. The chosen ward will be vacant throughout the duration of the works, however the floors above and below will remain a live acute environment. There will be elements of work located on additional floors which will require work within a live ward, and the amount of disruption must be kept to a minimum. The works are to be completed and handed over before the end of the current financial year, 31st March 2015. The WHSCT confirm that the following consultants will be required to form part of the design team; Lead Consultant, Architect, Mechanical Engineer, Electrical Engineer, Civil & Structural Engineer and CDM coordinator. Schedules of duties for these consultants will be included in ITT. It is anticipated that the lead consultant (contract administrator) will be the architect. The contract period (for consultant services) is 8 months, August 2014 – March 2015, not including the defects liability period.
