Tender description
The WHSCT are seeking to appoint a contractor to for the proposed upgrade / refurbishment of the Ward 8 in the Tower Block at Altnagelvin Hospital. The refurbishments aim is to implement an upgrade of the mechanical and electrical infrastructure, to reduce the risk associated with the existing building services. The mechanical infrastructure upgrade aims to reduce the risk associated with water borne pathogens. This will be achieved by designing and installing mechanical infrastructure compliant with legislation and guidance documents HSG 274 Part: The Control of legionella bacteria in hot and cold water systems; Health technical Memorandum 04-01; Water Supply Regulations(Please note this list is not exhaustive). The successful contractor will be required to engage fully with the Trusts’ water safety management team. The mechanical works will involve the complete replacement of all mains, hot and cold water infrastructure with the Ward. All existing pipework, blind ends and dead legs will be removed from the system. All pipework will be connected to the mains, hot (flow & return) and cold supply infrastructure located in the riser. To reduce the risk of an electrical failure resulting in loss of power to critical clinical areas, the entire electrical system within the ward needs upgraded. This includes (but not limited to) all distribution boards & protective devices, all circuits, fire alarm systems, fire dampers, access control systems, ICT systems, Vacuum Transfer Systems, Nurse Call Systems, Medical Gas System. The work will include installation of new cable and cable containment with full separation of electrical systems (LV / ELV). Where electrical circuits in floors above and below the ward are supplied from the ward then these circuits will be replaced / rewired at the appropriate floor level. All work will comply with BS 7671 17TH Edition Wiring Regulations and HTM 06. On completion, the entire electrical installation will be tested and approved
