WHSCT Refurbishment of DESU Theatre 1 at Altnagelvin Hospital

Tender description

The proposed project shall consist of the complete refurbishment of an existing Day Elective Surgery Theatre within Altnagelvin Hospital. The scheme shall include: the refurbishment of the existing building fabric, upgrade and re-wiring of the existing electrical installation and upgrading the existing mechanical installation, including the replacement of an existing Air Handling Unit which currently serves the theatre. All works shall comply with relevant statutory and HTM guidelines. The contract shall also include for the removal and disposal of all existing redundant plant. The proposed project shall be carried out whilst the hospital remains in operation, including adjacent Theatres and Recovery Facilities. Contractors shall be required to make allowance for this in all Health & Safety method statements and shall be required to programme all works to ensure minimal disruption to the trusts core activities. In addition, the contractor shall be required to liaise with both Trust estates and medical staff to agree a programme for the works, with a significant part of the contract being required to take place outside of normal working hours.
