WHSCT DESIGN TEAM APPOINTMENT - STEAM CAPACITY WORKS ALTNAGELVIN

Tender description

The Contract is for the provision of consultancy services as follows: The WHSCT are seeking to appoint a design team for the proposed Installation of a “New Steam Supply Pipe from the Main Boilerhouse to the South Block Connection” Works 2015/16 at Altnagelvin Hospital. The work will involve the design, supply and installation of a complete new steam supply pipe. Works will be undertaken at Altnagelvin Hospital: • Boilerhouse • Basement (Boilerhouse) • Main Tunnel (Boilerhouse to South Block Existing Connection) The project aims to replace the existing 200 mm Diameter Steam Pipe with a new 300 Diameter Steam Pipe from the Boilerhouse Main Steam Header to the existing connection to the South Block. (approximately 150 metres) Throughout duration of works, the Boilerhouse and existing steam supply pipe will operate as normal with little or no disruption. Access to the Boilerhouse, tunnel and services within the tunnel shall not be restricted to Maintenance Staff or Contractor’s Tradesmen during the proposed work either during normal hours or outside normal working hours. The Proposed new steam pipe shall not restrict access to existing cable trays for future installation of cables or cause any restriction for maintenance to any other service within the Boilerhouse or Tunnel Areas. The pipe connection within the Boilerhouse shall be located and installed to allow the installation of a new steam header above the boilers at a later date with minimal disruption. Electrical A small electrical input will involve the installation of a new condensate recovery unit. All work must be carried out in line with current legislative standards and guidance.
