WHSCT - DESIGN TEAM APPOINTMENT FOR WARD 6 (PAEDS) REFURBISHMENT

Tender description

The WHSCT are seeking to appoint a design team for the proposed refurbishment of Ward 6 (Paediatrics) of the tower block, Altnagelvin Hospital. The works included the proposed upgrade / replacement of mechanical and electrical infrastructure in the wards to reduce the risk associated with the mechanical and electrical services. The ward will be vacant throughout the duration of the works, however the floors above and below will remain a live acute environment. There will be elements of work located on additional floors which will require work within a live ward, and the amount of disruption must be kept to a minimum. Mechanical The work will primarily involve the installation of replacement mains, hot and cold water services to the existing water assets within the wards. It will be necessary to removal all redundant pipework in line with legislative guidance and hospital policy. Electrical The work will involve the complete replacement of all electrical services within the wards. All work must be carried out in line with legislative guidance. The works also include general refurbishment / reconfiguration of the Paediatrics Ward. It is essential that the works be designed and phased in such a way as to cause the minimum amount of disruption to the live hospital.
