WHSCT - DESIGN TEAM APPOINTMENT FOR THE REFURBISHMENT OF WARD 3 WATERSIDE HOSPIT

Tender description

The WHSCT are seeking to appoint a design team for the proposed minor refurbishment of Ward 3 Waterside Hospital Gransha Park, Londonderry, BT47 6WH. The refurbishment is primarily aimed at implementing the reconfiguration of the existing `footprint` of the ward to provide a 24 Bed ward (14 no. acute/rehabilitation; 6 no. sub-acute/sub-stroke/rehab and 4 no. continuing care beds) complete with associated patient facilities. Work is also required to enhance the internal fabric of the ward. Waterside Hospital is located on the fully operational hospital site of Gransha Park; the site has a mixture of psychiatric, administration, transport & ground maintenance facilities. Ward 3 is positioned within the Waterside Hospital Complex and will be vacated for the duration of the works. There are 4 adjoining wards & 1 Support Services/Admin wing which will be occupied & must remain fully functional throughout the works. The works must be designed and phased in such a way as to cause the minimum amount of disruption to the adjacent wards, support services & the overall Gransha Site. It is anticipated that complex mechanical and electrical services, including medical gases, will be required as part of the works and the team should have adequate experience of same. The works are to be completed and handed over on/before Friday 14th March 2015. The WHSCT confirm that the following consultants will be required to form part of the design team; Lead Consultant, Architect, Mechanical Engineer, Electrical Engineer, Civil & Structural Engineer, Quantity Surveyor and CDM coordinator. Schedules of duties for these consultants will be included in ITT. It is anticipated that the lead consultant (contract administrator) will be the architect. The contract period (for consultant services) is 7 months, September 2014 – March 2015, not including the defects liability period.
