WHSCT - DESIGN TEAM APPOINTMENT FOR 2015-2016 FIRECODE WORKS

Tender description

The WHSCT are seeking to appoint a design team for the proposed Firecode Works 2015/16 at Altnagelvin Hospital. Works will be undertaken at Altnagelvin Hospital: • Basement (Tower Block) • Nurses’ Home • Harvey Halls The project aims to address finding of fire risk assessments in these areas, and reduce risk in event of fire. Throughout duration of works, Basement will operate as services tunnel to Hospital, and staff accommodation (Nurses’ Home & Harvey Halls) will continue to operate at normal occupancy levels. The amount of disruption must be kept to a minimum. Building The work is primarily upgrading of existing bedroom, corridor and staircase doors to fire 30 or 60 min Fire Resisting construction. Works will require doors to be removed and replaced, and in some cases replace complete framesets. Works will also require supply and fixing/fit of Evacuation Pads in stairwells of Altnagelvin Hospital. Electrical The work will involve minimal electrical works, e.g. installation of hold-open devices (detents) on new fire doors in Basement. All work must be carried out in line with current legislative standards and guidance. The works are to be completed and handed over before the end of the current financial year, 31st March 2016. The WHSCT confirm that the following consultants will be required to form part of the design team; • Lead Consultant • Architect • Electrical Engineer • Quantity Surveyor • CDM Coordinator. Schedules of duties for these consultants will be included in ITT. It is anticipated that the lead consultant (contract administrator) will be the architect. The contract period (for consultant services) is 9 months, July 2015 – March 2016, not including the defects liability period.
