Train Driver Simulator Software Upgrade and Hardware Refresh

Translink, comprising of Northern Ireland Railways, Metro and Ulsterbus is the all embracing title for the integrated public transport operations in Northern Ireland. The train driver simulator has been used extensively for both the training of new train drivers and the ongoing competency assessment of current train drivers. Recently the train simulator was modified to allow the modelling of the new Class 4000 trains for conversion training. Translink require a competent contractor to provide the following requirements; • The replacement of hardware including Train Simulator PC’s, interchangeable spare PC’s and projector. • The upgrade of the simulator software (Win XP) to Windows 7 including the upgrade of the NI Railways database (Class 3000 & 4000 models, faults and Track) and ensuring compatibility with the NI Railways CGI Track Builder Tool. • Provision of driver assessment tools, e.g. end of run report, etc • Maintenance support for 7 years This is a requirement for Translink and returns for this section are due by: 15.00 hours on Wednesday 28th September 2011. Translink is utilising an electronic tendering system to manage this procurement and communicate with Tenderers. Accordingly, there will be no hard copy documents issued and it is intended that all communications with Translink including the submission of PQQ and Tender responses will be conducted via www.e-sourcingni.bravosolution.co.uk. Unless stated otherwise in these Instructions or in writing from Translink, all communications including queries from Applicants and any PQQ amendments from Translink during the period of this procurement exercise shall be submitted through and published via the online messaging facility provided on the e-sourcing NI portal (see “Messages” section). The onus lies on the applicant to read and keep up to date with all the information published on eSourcing NI in relation to this requirement.
