Tender description

Contract for the collection, transportation, treatment and final disposal of healthcare waste (includes infectious clinical waste, hazardous waste, non hazardous, chemicals, medicines, offensive waste, hygiene waste, WEEE, confidential and waste streams as set out in the Department of Health Safe Management of Healthcare Waste Version 2. This waste will be produced at various sites within the Hampshire Consortium and the commissioned services within the Hampshire Trusts locations. The Hampshire Consortium consist of Portsmouth, Southampton, Hampshire Primary Care Trusts, Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust, Solent NHS Trust and services such as Portsmouth/ Southampton GP’s, Dentistry and Pharmacy etc. The contractor will be required to comply with all current and future legislations and guidelines during the term of the contract and will be required to prepare and present proposals to the Consortium to encompass new legislation, regulations and best practice as an when enacted. The contractor will ensure that waste must be treated by methodologies that are authorised by the Environmental Agency and provide evidence of all, certificates and licenses, as relevant to the contract tendered for. The contractor will help the Consortium in introducing sustainable recovery/ reuse opportunities, training, information and improvements in waste minimisation. The contractor must monitor, trace and audit the contract during its life of the agreement Monthly, Quarterly and annual reports per site basis for weights and costs to be produced by the Contractor The NHS sites within each Trust and the commissioned services will pay monthly in arrears based on what was actually collected that month The contract period will be inially three years commencing 1st April 2013 until 31st March 2016, the Consortium holds the option to introduce Domestic and recyclables waste on 31st March 2014 until 31st March 2015 with a further option to extend the contract for a further two
