NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership - Procurement Services are looking to establish a contract for the provision of “Theatre Wear” for hospitals across Wales. NWSSP - Procurement Services would like to invite suppliers of Theatre Wear ranges to express their interest in working with NHS Wales. It is envisaged that the proposed contract would cover the following types of products. Please note that this is not a definitive list and the range could increase/ decrease dependant on market and end user feedback. Protective Headwear (such as Theatre / Operating / Nurses Caps) Gowns (such as Surgical/ Patient) Patient Briefs/ Underwear Protective / Surgical Face Masks / Respirators Surgical Scrubs Surgical Masks, Gowns and Respirators are required to meet the following standards: BS EN 14683:2005 Surgical masks. Requirements and test methods BS EN 13795:2011+A1:2013 Surgical drapes, gowns and clean air suits, used as medical devices for patients, clinical staff and equipment. General requirements for manufacturers, processors and products, test methods, performance requirements and performance levels BS EN 149:2001+A1:2009 - Respiratory protective devices. Filtering half masks to protect against particles. In order for Procurement Services to determine that a supplier’s Mask, Gown or Respirator complies with these standards laboratory test reports and certificates are required. These will be verified by the Surgical Materials Testing Laboratory (SMTL, Bridgend). Failure to submit these documents at point of Pre-Qualification/ Tender may potentially result in elimination from the procurement process. It is anticipated that the duration of the proposed contract would be a maximum of 4 years, commencing mid-late 2014. The value of this proposed contract is circa £1m, although this will be split down in to lots with the intention of sole award per lot. The content of the lots and their respective values is currently undetermined.
