The Barbican Centre Ticketing & Fundraising System

The City invites Tenderers to submit a Selection Questionnaire for the provision of Barbican Ticketing System Contract. The existing ticketing system has been in place since 2001, which has proved to be reliable and has generated in excess of £25m in ticketing and fundraising income per annum. However, the system has not had any significant new system functionality and features since 2012/13 (apart from security enhancements). Therefore, the Barbican is looking to procure a new ticketing system to replace this system which will also incorporate other currently separate systems for fundraising and mass e-mailing. The new system shall also be able to link with the existing databases managed by the Barbican’s in-house IT team. The new supplier will need to migrate system data as well as building the system to suit the Barbican’s requirements. The system has to be hosted and must be stable, reliable and able to cope with the large numbers of online ticketing sales that the Barbican receives. A throughput of a least 200 Completed Sales a Minute (peak) and an average of over 3000 transactions per hour is required. In addition, it must have the capacity to process an average of more than 7500 concurrent customers in the ticket purchase path at any one time with the ability to queue in excess of 100,000 customers either via an inbuilt (preferred method) or third-party queueing system. The current system generates in excess of £25M per year in ticket sales and fundraising income. The duration of the contract is 5 years, subject to the right of the Authority (at its sole discretion) to exercise its right to extend the Contract by up to 2. The maximum length of the contract is therefore 7 years.
