T22-056ENV Refurbishment of Claudy Country Park Play Area and Environs Contractors PQQ Application

Tender description

Derry City and Strabane District Council seeks to appoint a Contractor for the upgrade and refurbishment of areas around Claudy Country Park including the play area. In the play area some play equipment and street furniture will be replaced while some will be retained. New play equipment will be installed amongst the existing. The equipment and street furniture to be retained may be cleaned, repaired and painted as required. Hard landscaping and safety surfacing will be renewed in places and retained elsewhere. The works in the wider park will include repair and replacement of stretches of fences, handrails and street furniture. Some older play equipment and posts may also be removed. To avoid water running over and pounding on the path some natural drainage works with diversions and soakaways will also be included. The wider park and the car park will remain open to the general public during the construction phase and the Contractor must practise pro-active Health and Safety through positive pedestrian management on site throughout the works to manage this public interface. As the river is a Special Area of Conservation (River Faughan and Tributaries SAC) and an Area of Special Scientific Interest (River Faughan and Tributaries ASSI) and as there are some stands of invasive species within the park, it is essential that the contractor carry out the works with consideration to the natural environment.
