Tender description

NIHE operate a Common Waiting List and Common Selection Scheme together in partnership with all of the 30 registered housing associations in Northern Ireland. This provides applicants with a single path into a pool of over 126,000 units of permanent social rented housing in Northern Ireland, whether owned and managed by a registered housing association or the NIHE. Traditionally, tenants have also found other tenants to swap through means such as newspaper advertisements, postcards in shops, websites such as Gumtree, word of mouth etc. NIHE now wish to procure an internet-based mutual exchange service for a longer time period which will boost the prospect of moving for tenants, particularly those who are overcrowded or under-occupied. This could help to make better use of social housing stock, and may become even more important if Housing Benefit size criteria are introduced for social sector tenants in Northern Ireland
