Synthesis of Flood Social Science Evidence

Defra Water and Flood Risk Management Team wish to engage a supplier to undertake an exploratory social research project to inform a transition away from centrally funded and coordinated flood risk management towards more local ownership and management of flood risk where government takes the role of facilitator and enabler The project involves synthesising available social science research and practitioner experience to answer policy questions as well as running a series of workshops to build understanding of the evidence and identify knowledge gaps. The project will improve impact and use of existing social evidence in policy making, create opportunities for knowledge exchange and learning from what is known, raise profile of the FCRM joint research programme externally and raise awareness with academic community of Defra policy and research priorities.
