Support to the Government’s Sustainable Procurement Policy and EcoLabel

Tender description

Sustainable procurement is a key part of the programme as Government procures a range of goods and services, spending over £220 billion a year (OGC, 2009). This expenditure creates the opportunity for Government to directly support a green economy by endeavouring to procure sustainable products. To support these objectives the Authority is requesting tenders for the following framework agreement: • Technical advice to enable the development/revision of both the Government Buying Standards for public procurement and the EU Green Public Procurement (GPP) product specifications. (Currently, a framework of consultants is managed on Defra’s behalf through a lead supplier) • Technical advice and participation in EU Ecolabel criteria development (managed through lead supplier) • Delivery of the EU Ecolabel scheme in the UK i.e. publicising the scheme, managing the process whereby manufacturers, retailers or others apply for a licence to use the Ecolabel, checking compliance with conditions of the licence etc. (Currently, managed alongside technical advice on Ecolabel, as above)
