Supply of Road Rail Excavators and Tamping Heads

Translink is the brand name for the public transport operating companies in Northern Ireland. These include the companies of Ulsterbus, Metro, Northern Ireland Railways Company Limited and NITHC. Translink’s Infrastructure Division is responsible for maintaining Northern Ireland Railways’ (NIR) network comprising some 210 route miles (300 track miles). Within Infrastructure Division the Permanent Way Department is responsible for the maintenance and provision of main line track (jointed and CWR), S&C, sidings and line side assets. NIR have a requirement for two sixteen tonne multipurpose road/rail excavators complete with compatible Tamping Heads, as replacements for the existing fleet. The supplier shall be responsible for the supply, delivery and main servicing of excavators for a period of 3 years plus a further 3 annual extension options. The requirements of this Contract is for the supply and delivery of new on track railway plant for the use on the Northern Ireland railways network. This supply contract is to include the relevant warrantee and service agreement. The requirement is for either Type 9A, 9B/C or 9C machine with braking and traction provided either directly from the road wheels or indirectly from the road wheels to the rail wheels or a Type 9A machine with self-powered rail wheels where braking and traction are directly on the rail wheels – Hydrostatically powered or Equivalent. The terms of the NEC3 Supply Short Contract will be applied to this tender. The contract duration will be (i) 5 months for design and build (January 2013 to May 2013) (ii) Servicing – 3 years from delivery plus a further 3 annual extension options The anticipated Contract Award is January 2013.Please refer to ITT Part C2 The supplier will also be required to supply hydraulic Tamping head and Ballast brush box.
