Supply of Pearlitic Railway Rails

Tender description

Northern Ireland Railways (NIR) wish to establish a Pre-Qualified List of suitably qualified Economic Operators to quote for supply and delivery of steel railway rails to various locations throughout the network. NIR would foresee this Pre Qualified List to commence in December 2012 for a period of two years with two further annual extension options. The rails are to be manufactured in accordance with Network Rail’s Standard Ref. No. NR-SP-TRK-061 Issue 2 “Pearlitic Rails”. The rails are to be supplied undrilled in 60 feet or 18.288 metre lengths. The rail profile is to be 56EI (New Designation) also known as BR113A (Old Designation). The Grade of steel is to be either Grade 260 also known as Grade A Steel or Grade 330 hardened throughout the entire cross section also known as HP rail. (Type to be advised at time of placing each order). Rails are to be either straight or pre bent to a nominal 220m radius. (Type to be advised at time of placing each order). The rails should be delivered by the Supplier to at least 2 locations in the North-western Area of Northern Ireland. The rails will have to be moved from the quayside in Northern Ireland to the delivery locations via roads by the Supplier.
