Supply of GRP Anti-slip Treads to suit Railway Platform Nosings

The following is provided in good faith and is intended only as a preliminary background explanation to Translink’s requirement it does not purport to be all inclusive. Translink is the brand name for the public transport operating companies in Northern Ireland. These include the companies of Ulsterbus, Metro and Northern Ireland Railways. Please note the Tender Submission return date of 1500 hours on Tuesday 28 February 2012. Translink is committed to creating a safe and secure environment for staff and passengers alike. All railway platforms have clearly identified edges. The entire length of the platform edges is circa 14,700 m. The aim of this exercise is to appoint one suitably qualified economic operator to supply GRP anti-slip treads to suit Railway Platform nosings across the network. The anticipated start date is Quarter 1 2012. Dates may be subject to change. Translink requires approx. 14,700m of GRP nosing’s that will be attached to the platform edges. The nosing will have an “L” shaped profile 100mm x 100mm x 3000mm in length. The Glass Reinforced Plastic nosings will be • White in colour and colour fast • Anti-slip • UV stable • Minimum 25 yr lifespan • Freeze thaw resistant • Salt resistant (This requirement is for supply only) Translink reserve the right to accept part of any Tender from one or any number of Tenderers and may change the contracting strategy at any time. Translink is utilising an electronic tendering system to manage this procurement and communicate with Tenderers. Accordingly, there will be no hard copy documents issued and it is intended that all communications with Translink including the submission of Tender responses will be conducted via www.e-sourcingni.bravosolution.co.uk.
