Supply of Driver Route Learning Kiosks

Translink NIR has maintained a high focus on improving safety performance with particular emphasis on improving the train driver’s knowledge of its routes and the associated risks. NIR have already produced route videos and maps to be used as route learning aids. It has now been identified that a more effective use could be made of the route learning aids by making them readily available to drivers at each depot in a non-supervised area. Scope To achieve this, Translink NIR requires 10 electronic kiosks to be installed at key locations for train drivers. The kiosks will incorporate the existing route learning aids but will also have the potential to provide other safety and training material and provide intranet and internet access. They kiosks will require interface software for all applications and will also provide remote online management system to update information. Key system requirements 10 Desktop kiosks including- • Tamperproof and durable construction • Microsoft Supported Windows environment • Minimum19” touchscreen • Durable keyboard • Network connection • Interface software for applications such as route learning aids, CBT, internet etc. • Remote online management system • 3 year kiosk support Translink NIR will provide desks, power and a data link for the kiosks which will be installed by the supplier at the following Translink NIR locations- Adelaide depot (Belfast), York Rd Depot (Belfast), Bangor, Portadown, Larne Harbour, Coleraine, Londonderry, Great Victoria Street (Belfast), Central station (Belfast) and Rail Operations Training Academy (Belfast)
