Site Investigation – Thurles Walking & Cycling Scheme

Tender description

The purpose of the contract consists of the development of a walking and cycling route across the northern boundary of the schools, which will naturally change the mode of travel to and from the schools in Thurles. The majority of the schools are located on the northern side of the town and are in close proximity to each other, however linkages are constrained by the River Suir. The intention of this scheme is to provide a footpath/cycle-path from the Thurles Train Station to Bohernamona Road connecting all the schools north of Thurles town and with a designated bridge crossing over the River Suir, north of the existing bridge. Drawing 22_001-CSE-GEN-XX-DR-C-1050 details the location for the trial pits, slit trenches, california bearing ratio, rotary core boreholes and road cores within the site boundary. The scope of the works envisaged under this Ground Investigation is as follows: a) 24 No. Trial Pits b) 22 No. Slit Trenches for services proofing c) 11 No. California Bearing Ratio d) 06 No. Rotary Core Boreholes e) 05 No. Road Cores f) Detailed logs, drawings, and descriptive geotechnical reports as described in BS5930 and the Specification.
