BACKGROUND Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking tenders from service providers who have a proven track record of delivering Leadership programmes to multi-disciplinary groups including consultant medical staff in a large NHS Trust. Providers should be available from the end of January 2013. Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust is a large Acute NHS Trust with a turnover of around £740 million per year. Our vision is to be the best acute teaching trust by 2016. One of our key objectives for 2012/13 is to maintain the quality and range of our services while reducing our cost base. With achievement of this objective in mind, over the last twelve months the Trust has implemented service line reporting as a tool for managers to analyse and understand the financial performance of their services. Training is now required to support Trust leaders to move away from the traditional ‘grant culture’ towards the more business like approach represented by service line reporting. Clinical leaders need to develop the business behaviours we need to deal successfully with the new FT environment. THE PROGRAMME We anticipate delivery of a modular programme over 6 – 8 months with a coaching as well as training focus to ensure that managers take the behaviours and techniques learned and apply them to their day jobs. The programme must be firmly rooted in the realities of healthcare delivery in a challenging financial and operational environment. Training provision needs to include a 360 questionnaire or similar to give participants insight into their current skill set. The programme should explicitly reinforce our Values and Behaviours and link through to the Trust’s objectives (see Service Specification which has been uploaded to the NHS Sourcing website). Focus and content should also support the NHS Leadership Framework . The programme should also support service line management and the development of business-like and customer / stakeholder focussed behaviours.
